Aviation Disclaimer

⚠ IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE — READ CAREFULLY
AutoNavlog is a computational flight planning aid only. It is not certified, not FAA-approved, and must not be used as the sole basis for any flight decision.
- AutoNavlog output may contain errors and is provided without warranty of any kind.
- Always verify all computed values independently against current official sources.
- The Pilot in Command is solely and exclusively responsible for all preflight planning and in-flight decisions.
- Do not fly based solely on information provided by AutoNavlog.
"The pilot in command of an aircraft is directly responsible for, and is the final authority as to, the operation of that aircraft." Nothing in AutoNavlog's output changes or diminishes this responsibility.
1. AutoNavlog Is a Planning Aid, Not a Certified System
AutoNavlog is a general-purpose navigation log calculation tool built by private developers. It is not:
- Certified by the FAA, Transport Canada, EASA, or any civil aviation authority
- Part of a certified avionics or flight planning system
- Updated in real time with current aeronautical information (NOTAMs, TFRs, airspace changes, active weather)
- A substitute for an official preflight weather briefing from 1800wxbrief.com, Leidos Flight Service, or a similar certified provider
- A substitute for current charts (sectional, IFR en route, approach plates) published by the FAA or authorized chart suppliers
2. Known Data Limitations
Computed navlog values are estimates based on user-provided inputs and a combination of FAA public data, crowdsourced performance data contributed by other users, and mathematical models. AutoNavlog makes no representation that these values are accurate, current, or appropriate for your specific aircraft, route, or conditions. In particular:
- Magnetic variation is computed from the World Magnetic Model (WMM), which is updated periodically. Variation values may differ from chart-depicted values and from your aircraft's compass deviation card.
- Aircraft performance (TAS, fuel burn, climb, cruise, descent) is based on inputs you provide or on POH data that may not match your actual aircraft's current condition, loading, or maintenance status.
- Waypoint and airport data (identifiers, frequencies, coordinates) is sourced from public FAA data and user contributions. It may be outdated, incorrect, or incomplete. Always verify against current official charts and NOTAMs.
- Wind data may be entered by you or optionally pre-filled from the NWS Aviation Weather Center FD winds/temps aloft table, interpolated to your planned altitude. AutoNavlog does not verify that forecast. You must check the official AWC FD/GFA product (or equivalent) before flight.
- Route geometry (distances, courses) is computed from geographic coordinates. It does not account for obstacle clearance, terrain, airspace boundaries, or minimum safe altitudes. You must verify routes against current charts.
- Crowdsourced data contributed by other users has not been independently verified and may contain errors, fabrications, or data from different aircraft types.
3. Required Pilot Actions Before Every Flight
Before any flight, you must independently and using official current sources:
- Obtain a weather briefing from a certified aviation weather provider
- Check current NOTAMs for all airports and airspace along your route
- Verify all waypoint identifiers and coordinates on current official charts
- Compute or verify fuel requirements per your aircraft's current POH/AFM
- Verify magnetic variation from current charts or your aircraft's compass correction card
- Ensure your flight plan complies with all applicable FARs and ATC requirements
- File a flight plan with FSS if required or desired
Using AutoNavlog does not satisfy any of these requirements.
4. IFR Operations
AutoNavlog provides limited IFR airway expansion functionality. IFR flight in controlled airspace involves additional regulatory requirements, ATC clearances, and equipment requirements not addressed by this tool. For IFR operations, you must use current IFR en route charts, SIDs, STARs, and instrument approach procedures published by the FAA or an authorized AIRAC cycle provider. AutoNavlog is not an IFR flight planning system and must not be used as one.
5. No Warranty; Use At Your Own Risk
AutoNavlog and all data, algorithms, and outputs it produces are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without any warranty, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. AutoNavlog, LLC expressly disclaims all warranties to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Your use of AutoNavlog is entirely at your own risk. AutoNavlog, LLC, its members, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any personal injury, death, property damage, or any other damages arising from your use of, or reliance on, AutoNavlog output.
6. Acceptance Required
By creating an account with AutoNavlog, you acknowledge that you have read and understand this Aviation Disclaimer in full, and you agree that you will not use AutoNavlog output as the sole basis for any flight decision. This acknowledgment is recorded with a timestamp and the version of this disclaimer at the time of your registration.
7. Reporting Errors
If you identify a data error, calculation discrepancy, or other issue in AutoNavlog's output, please report it using the "Suggestions" feature in the app or by emailing autonavlog@gmail.com. We rely on pilot feedback to improve data quality and we take these reports seriously.
