AutoNavlog, LLC ("AutoNavlog," "we," "us," or "our") provides an online navigation-log calculator that helps pilots and student pilots prepare VFR and IFR flight-planning navlogs. This Privacy Policy describes how AutoNavlog processes personal information that we collect through our digital or online properties or services that link to this Privacy Policy (including our website at autonavlog.com), as well as our communications and other activities described in this Privacy Policy (collectively, the "Service").
You can print a copy of this Privacy Policy using your browser's print function.
Personal information we collect
Information you provide to us.
Personal information you may provide to us through the Service or otherwise includes:
- Contact data, such as your email address.
- Profile data, such as the password that you set to establish an account on the Service (which is managed by Firebase Authentication; we never see or store your password in plaintext), and, if you sign in with Google, the display name and profile picture URL associated with your Google account.
- Communications data based on our exchanges with you, including when you contact us by email, submit a suggestion or bug report through the "Suggestions" feature, or otherwise communicate with us.
- Transactional data, such as information relating to your AutoNavlog Pro subscription, including your Stripe customer identifier, subscription status, and subscription period dates.
- User-generated content and input data, such as the route strings, waypoints, aircraft identifiers and performance parameters, wind data, fuel figures, saved navigation logs, airport-information confirmations, and other inputs you enter into or save in the Service ("Flight Data"), as well as associated metadata such as when a navlog was created or last edited.
- Payment data needed to complete transactions, such as your payment card information. Payment data is collected and processed directly by our payment processor, Stripe, on Stripe-hosted pages; we do not receive or store your full card number, CVV, or bank account number.
- Legal acceptance data, such as the version of our Terms of Use and Aviation Disclaimer you accepted and the time of acceptance.
- Other data not specifically listed here, which we will use as described in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise disclosed at the time of collection.
Third-party sources.
We may combine personal information we receive from you with personal information falling within one of the categories identified above that we obtain from other sources, such as:
- Service providers that provide services on our behalf or help us operate the Service or our business, such as Google (Firebase) and Stripe.
- Third-party services that you use to log into the Service, such as Google Sign-In. This data may include your name, email address, profile picture, and other information associated with your account on that third-party service that is made available to us based on your account settings on that service.
- Business transaction partners. We may receive personal information in connection with an actual or prospective business transaction. For example, we may receive your personal information from an entity we acquire or are acquired by, a successor, or assignee or any party involved in a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or similar transaction, and/or in the context of an insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership.
Automatic data collection.
We, our service providers, and our business partners may automatically log information about you, your computer or mobile device, and your interaction over time with the Service, our communications, and other online services, such as:
- Device data, such as your computer or mobile device's operating system type and version, browser type, screen resolution, device type (e.g., phone, tablet), IP address, language settings, and general location information such as city, state, or geographic area.
- Online activity data, such as pages or screens you viewed, how long you spent on a page or screen, the website you visited before browsing to the Service, navigation paths between pages or screens, information about your activity on a page or screen (such as which features you used), and access times and duration of access.
- Error and diagnostic data, such as error messages, stack traces, and the state of the application when an error occurred, which we collect to diagnose and fix problems with the Service.
For more information concerning our automatic collection of data, please see the Tracking & other technologies section below.
Crowdsourced contributions.
When you use the "Save" feature as a signed-in user, route and leg-performance data derived from your Flight Data may be contributed to a shared, crowdsourced cache that helps other pilots. Entries in the shared cache are stored without your name or email address attached; they contain route strings, aircraft performance numbers, and an internal contributor identifier only.
Tracking & other technologies
Cookies and other technologies. Some of our automatic data collection is facilitated by cookies, browser web storage, and other technologies. For more information, see our Cookie Notice. We also store a record of your preferences in respect of the use of these technologies in connection with the Service.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the Service is used. Analytics is on by default. You can opt out at any time through Cookie Settings, and we honor the Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out on that browser. You can also learn more about Google Analytics and how to prevent its use relating to your use of our sites at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Error monitoring. We may use Sentry to capture error and diagnostic data when something goes wrong in the Service, so we can identify and fix problems.
Bot and abuse protection. We use Firebase App Check with Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise to verify that requests to our backend originate from a genuine instance of the Service. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information, such as device and application data, and sends it to Google for analysis. Your use of reCAPTCHA is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
We do not use chat or generative artificial intelligence ("AI") features on the Service, and we do not use session-replay technologies.
For information concerning your choices with respect to the use of tracking technologies, see the Your choices section of our Cookie Notice.
How we use your personal information
We may use your personal information for the following purposes or as otherwise described at the time of collection:
Service delivery and operations.
We may use your personal information to:
- provide the Service, including computing navigation logs from your inputs;
- enable security features of the Service, such as authentication, rate limiting, and abuse prevention;
- establish and maintain your user account on the Service;
- save and restore your navigation logs and Flight Data (a Pro feature);
- process payments and manage your subscription through Stripe;
- communicate with you about the Service, including by sending Service-related announcements, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages (such as email verification, password reset, and subscription confirmations); and
- provide support for the Service, and respond to your requests, questions, and feedback.
Service personalization.
We may use your personal information to understand your needs and interests, personalize your experience with the Service, and remember your selections and preferences (such as map style, onboarding progress, and the inputs you were working on) as you navigate the Service.
Service improvement and analytics.
We may use your personal information to analyze your usage of the Service, improve the Service, improve the rest of our business, help us understand user activity on the Service, including which pages are most and least visited and how visitors move around the Service, and to develop new products and services. For example, we use Google Analytics for this purpose. For more information on analytics, see our Cookie Notice.
Marketing.
Direct marketing. We do not currently send marketing emails. If we do so in the future, we will only send marketing communications where permitted by law, and you will be able to opt out as described in the Your choices section below.
Interest-based advertising. We do not display third-party advertisements on the Service and we do not use your personal information for interest-based advertising.
Compliance and protection.
We may use your personal information to:
- comply with applicable laws, lawful requests, and legal process, such as to respond to subpoenas, investigations, or requests from government authorities;
- protect our, your, or others' rights, privacy, safety, or property (including by making and defending legal claims);
- audit our internal processes for compliance with legal and contractual requirements or our internal policies;
- enforce the terms and conditions that govern the Service; and
- prevent, identify, investigate, and deter fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized, unethical, or illegal activity, including cyberattacks and identity theft.
Data sharing in the context of corporate events.
We may share certain personal information in the context of actual or prospective corporate events. For more information, see How we share your personal information, below.
To create aggregated, de-identified, and/or anonymized data.
We may create aggregated, de-identified, and/or anonymized data from your personal information and other individuals whose personal information we collect. We make personal information into de-identified and/or anonymized data by removing information that makes the data identifiable to you, and we will not attempt to reidentify any such data. We may use this aggregated, de-identified, and/or anonymized data and share it with third parties for our lawful business purposes, including analyzing and improving the Service, operating the crowdsourced route and performance cache, and promoting our business. We do not use your personal information to train AI models.
Further uses.
In some cases, we may use your personal information for further uses, in which case we will ask for your consent to use your personal information for those further purposes if they are not compatible with the initial purpose for which the information was collected.
Retention
We generally retain personal information to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements, establishing or defending legal claims, or for fraud-prevention purposes. To determine the appropriate retention period for personal information, we may consider factors such as the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal information, the purposes for which we process your personal information and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal requirements.
When we no longer require the personal information we have collected about you, we may either delete it, anonymize it, or isolate it from further processing. In practice:
- Account records are kept while your account exists and are deleted within 30 days of account deletion, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate fraud-prevention purposes.
- Saved navigation logs (Pro) are deleted when you delete a log or delete your account.
- Suggestions and bug reports are kept to improve the product; your email address and user identifier are stripped from them on account deletion.
- Crowdsourced route and leg cache entries are anonymized and retained; contributor identifiers are internal identifiers, not email addresses.
- Rate-limit and payment-event records are short-lived operational records that expire automatically.
- Aggregate, anonymized usage data may be retained indefinitely.
How we share your personal information
We may share your personal information with the following parties (or as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy, in other applicable notices, or at the time of collection).
- Affiliates. Our corporate parent, subsidiaries, and affiliates, if any.
- Service providers. Third parties that provide services on our behalf or help us operate the Service or our business, such as hosting, database, authentication, and serverless computing (Google Firebase and Google Cloud), website analytics (Google Analytics), error monitoring (Sentry), bot protection (Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise), and email delivery for account-related messages (Firebase Authentication).
- Payment processors. Any payment card information you use to make a purchase on the Service is collected and processed directly by our payment processor, Stripe. Stripe may use your payment data in accordance with its privacy policy, https://stripe.com/privacy.
- Aviation and map data providers. To render maps and aeronautical data, your browser may request map tiles and airspace data directly from third-party providers such as OpenFreeMap, Esri/ArcGIS Online, and Google Cloud Storage; these providers receive your IP address and the tile or query requested. Our backend retrieves winds-aloft and other aeronautical data from U.S. government sources (such as aviationweather.gov) on your behalf without passing your personal information to them.
- Third parties designated by you. We may share your personal information with third parties where you have instructed us or provided your consent to do so.
- Linked third-party services. If you log into the Service with Google, we may share your personal information with Google to the extent necessary to authenticate you. Google's use of the shared information will be governed by its privacy policy and the settings associated with your Google account.
- Professional advisors. Professional advisors, such as lawyers, auditors, bankers, and insurers, in the course of the professional services that they render to us.
- Authorities and others. Law enforcement, government authorities, and private parties, as we believe in good faith to be necessary or appropriate for the Compliance and protection purposes described above.
- Business transferees. We may disclose personal information in the context of actual or prospective business transactions (e.g., investments in AutoNavlog, financing of AutoNavlog, public stock offerings, or the sale, transfer, or merger of all or part of our business, assets, or shares). For example, we may need to share certain personal information with prospective counterparties and their advisers. We may also disclose your personal information to an acquirer, successor, or assignee of AutoNavlog as part of any merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or similar transaction, and/or in the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership in which personal information is transferred to one or more third parties as one of our business assets.
- Other users. Anonymized route strings and aircraft performance numbers that you contribute to the crowdsourced cache may be visible to and used by other users of the Service. Your name, email address, and saved navigation logs are not visible to other users.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Your choices
In this section, we describe the rights and choices available to all users. Users who are located in certain U.S. states can find additional information about their rights below.
Access or update your information. If you have registered for an account with us through the Service, you may review and update certain account information by logging into the account and opening the Account dialog.
Export your data. Signed-in users can download a JSON export of their account data and saved navigation logs from the Account dialog.
Opt out of communications. We do not currently send marketing emails. If we do so in the future, you may opt out of marketing-related emails by following the opt-out or unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of the email, or by contacting us. Please note that you may continue to receive service-related and other non-marketing emails.
Cookies and other technologies. For information about cookies and other technologies employed by the Service and how to control them, see our Cookie Notice. You can change your analytics preference at any time by clicking "Cookie Settings" in the site footer.
Blocking images/clear gifs. Most browsers and devices allow you to configure your device to prevent images from loading. To do this, follow the instructions in your particular browser or device settings.
Crowdsourced contributions. You can avoid contributing to the shared crowdsourced cache by not using the "Save" feature on the Results page.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Some Internet browsers may be configured to send "Do Not Track" signals to the online services that you visit. We currently do not respond to "Do Not Track" signals. To find out more about "Do Not Track," please visit allaboutdnt.com. We do honor the Global Privacy Control ("GPC") signal: when we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we treat it as an opt-out and keep analytics consent denied on that browser unless you later explicitly accept analytics through Cookie Settings.
Declining to provide information. We need to collect personal information to provide certain services. If you do not provide the information we identify as required or mandatory, we may not be able to provide those services.
Linked third-party platforms. If you choose to connect to the Service through your Google account, you may be able to use your Google account settings to limit the information we receive from it. If you revoke our ability to access information from a third-party platform, that choice will not apply to information that we have already received from that third party.
Delete your content or close your account. You can delete individual saved navigation logs through the Service. If you wish to close your account, use "Delete account" in the Account dialog or email us at autonavlog@gmail.com. Account deletion cancels any active Stripe subscription, removes your user record and saved navigation logs, and strips your email address and user identifier from any suggestions you submitted. Anonymized crowdsourced route and leg cache entries remain in the shared cache.
Other sites and services
The Service may contain links to websites, mobile applications, and other online services operated by third parties. In addition, our content may be integrated into web pages or other online services that are not associated with us. These links and integrations are not an endorsement of, or representation that we are affiliated with, any third party. We do not control websites, mobile applications, or online services operated by third parties, and we are not responsible for their actions. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of the other websites, mobile applications, and online services you use.
Security
We employ technical, organizational, and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information we collect, including Firebase Security Rules, Firebase App Check, and TLS encryption in transit. However, security risk is inherent in all internet and information technologies and we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information.
International data transfer
We are headquartered in the United States and may use service providers that operate in other countries. Your personal information may be transferred to the United States or other locations where privacy laws may not be as protective as those in your state, province, or country.
Children
The Service is not intended for use by anyone under 18 years of age. If you are a parent or guardian of a child from whom you believe we have collected personal information in a manner prohibited by law, please contact us. If we learn that we have collected personal information through the Service from a child without the consent of the child's parent or guardian as required by law, we will comply with applicable legal requirements to delete the information.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by updating the date of this Privacy Policy and posting it on the Service or other appropriate means. Any modifications to this Privacy Policy will be effective upon our posting the modified version (or as otherwise indicated at the time of posting). In all cases, your use of the Service after the effective date of any modified Privacy Policy indicates your acknowledging that the modified Privacy Policy applies to your interactions with the Service and our business.

This section describes how we collect, use, and share Personal Information of residents of these states and the rights these users may have with respect to their Personal Information. Please note that not all rights listed below may be afforded to all users and that if you are not a resident of one of these states, you may not be able to exercise these rights. In addition, we may not be able to process your request if you do not provide us with sufficient detail to allow us to confirm your identity or understand and respond to it. For requests made through the Account dialog, we authenticate you by requiring that you be signed in to the account concerned. For requests made by email, we verify your identity by matching the email address you write from to the email address on the account and, where necessary, by asking you to confirm the request from that address or to provide additional account details.
For purposes of this section, the term "Personal Information" has the meaning given to "personal data," "personal information," or other similar terms and "Sensitive Personal Information" has the meaning given to "sensitive personal information," "sensitive data," or other similar terms in the State Privacy Laws, except that in neither case does such term include information exempted from the scope of the State Privacy Laws.

Exercising your right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your Personal Information.
We do not sell Personal Information for money, and we do not share Personal Information with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising. The only third-party tracking technology on the Service is Google Analytics, which we use solely for our own analytics. If you would nonetheless like to opt out of analytics tracking, use "Cookie Settings" in the site footer, or email autonavlog@gmail.com. We honor Global Privacy Control ("GPC") signals as valid opt-out requests under California law and other applicable State Privacy Laws. When we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we treat it as a request to opt out, and analytics stays off on that browser unless you later explicitly turn it on through Cookie Settings. For more information about GPC, visit globalprivacycontrol.org.
Exercising other state privacy rights.

We may require a copy of a valid power of attorney given to your authorized agent pursuant to applicable law. If you have not provided your agent with such a power of attorney, we may ask you to take additional steps permitted by law to verify that your request is authorized, such as by providing your agent with written and signed permission to exercise your State Privacy Laws rights on your behalf, the information we request to verify your identity, and confirmation that you have given the authorized agent permission to submit the request.
